First of all, I will be completely honest with you.  I am not a huge fan of plaid, especially red plaid.  One, it reminds me of Christmas and two, I always thought plaid looked horrible on me.  However, Topshop proved me wrong.  When I saw this skirt in the store, I passed by it multiple times and never tried it on.  Finally, I decided to give it a shot because I am all about trying on different pieces that put me a little out of my comfort zone. *(Just a tip: It is always fun to try on clothes that are different from what you have in your closet.  More often than less, you will find yourself liking a new color, style, or fabric.  Best of all, there is no harm in just trying something on because if you don't like it, you don't have to buy it.) Lo and behold, after two minutes in the dressing room, I fell in love with it.  Although this skirt looks skin-tight, it’s really stretchy, so you can eat a lot and you will still feel comfortable and look fabulous.
As for the faux leather halter top, it was also one of those items that I was hesitant to buy.  It is extremely daring because there is only a small hook holding it up behind my neck and a small zipper on my lower back.  Since the top could be easily seen as “indecent,” I thought it would be fun to wear it with the conservative knee-length plaid skirt to create an edgy look.  I finished the outfit with a black hat, a gold studded belt, and minimalist black heels.
Hope this look inspires you to venture out of your comfort zone and try something new. Remember to be bold, but always be you.  Sending you lots of love from my heart to yours!
