Stopping to Smell the Flowers

Bengal Trumpet flowers as lovely as these deserve to be photographed and shared.  I remembered doing a photo shoot at this exact location a little over a year ago for my outfit post, Cassette, but I didn't take time to actually look at how exquisite these flowers are.  Usually, during a photo shoot, I am so focused on capturing my outfit, the details of my accessories and making sure everything is in the right place before moving on to another location for the next photo shoot.  However, this time around I wanted to capture the pure beauty of these flowers and share them with you in this post.  Their subtle sweet fragrance almost mimics that of gardenia, which is one of my favorite scents.  Although these Bengal Trumpet flowers are known to be pernicious weeds that can cover and smother trees and shrubs, I thought they made for a beautiful background.

Looking back to last year's photo shoot, I realized how detached I was to the world around me, especially nature.  I can't remember the last time I walked barefoot on the grass or just sat out in nature.  To be honest, the last time I went to the beach was about a year and a half ago, which is pretty sad considering I live in Hawai'i. I don't know about you, but I often get sucked into the "daily grind" and forget to stop and smell the roses.  In this case, I guess I could say, "stop to smell the Bengal Trumpet flowers," but "roses" just has a ring to it.  Anyway, my point is, I think it's essential to take time to appreciate Mother Nature and the little blessings in life.  I admit, there are days where I'm so focused on getting my work done that I forget to sit back and appreciate the beauty around me, and that's really a shame.  Savoring life's beautiful moments, no matter how big or small they may be is something that I hope to do more and more every day.

Now, for those of you who enjoy reading my usual stories on how I style my outfits, this section is dedicated to you.  Here we go!  I styled this satin-like bomber jacket with a textured tee and a pair of jeans that I cropped myself.  This feminine #bosslady look required a pair of pointed toe pumps and a tan structured handbag.  Although this ensemble looks great as is, it's ALL about the jewelry and accessories (and that Starbucks cup just so happened to match).  Let's start off with the golden baubles.  How amazing are these Jules Smith earrings?  This asymmetrical pair is so fun with one side spelling out, "LOVE," while the other, "DREAM."  Jewelry like this truly makes my heart sing!  I slid on matching bangles and popped on a pair of butterfly framed Miu Miu sunglasses.  For the final touch, I added a metallic belt and I tied a silk scarf to the handle of my purse to pull the whole look together.
I must say, this is quite a lengthy post, so thank you very much if you have made it all the way to the end of this post.  I am very grateful that you have taken the time to stop by my blog and I hope to continue the conversation with you all in the comment section below.  Also, let me know how you feel about the new format of this post.  I'd love to hear from you!  Well, until my next post, I am sending you lots of love from my heart to yours!
