Sporty Meets Street Chic

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably already saw a glimpse of this outfit.  If you don't follow me on Insta, you definitely should!  There, I usually post sneak peeks of my upcoming outfit posts before I publish it here on the blog.  So, let's break down this look piece by piece.

As someone who sees fashion as dress-up for grown-ups, I have lots of fun trying different styles.  However, sporty chic and athleisure don't usually come naturally to me.  Maybe it's because I'm highly uncoordinated and incredibly unathletic.  Surprisingly, since I uploaded my sport-inspired outfit post, Sting Like a Bee, I found myself becoming more excited about exploring the sporty chic styles.

For all the 90's kids out there, do you remember how cool it was to shop at Limited Too?  I certainly do!  I totally remember seeing pants like these in the early 2000s at Limited Too and every time I'd pass them up because they were always too long on me and I didn't have the confidence to pull them off.  Luckily, styles circle around and these pants somehow made their way to Forever 21.  Without hesitation, I scooped up a pair and challenged myself to style them.
I ended up opting for an asymmetrical crop top and a matching red denim jacket.  If sporty chic and street chic were to birth a baby, this look would be it.  Committing to the sporty vibe, I slipped into a pair of white sneakers.  They have a bit of a platform, which makes this petite fashionista very happy.

Staying true to my own style, I chose to wear a few girly pieces like this tiny red faux croc purse, a couple of jewelry pieces, white sunnies and, of course, I painted on a red lip to seal the deal.

With my newfound love and appreciation for athletic-inspired pieces, you may see more sporty chic outfits here on Elizabeth, Marie, and Me.  I'll still prance around in dresses and ruffles, but trying different styles and trends keep things fresh and exciting, don't you think.  Let me know in the comments below what style you want to try out.  Sometimes it takes just a bit of courage to step out of your comfort zone, but it's always worth it.  As always, I am sending you lots of love from my heart to yours!

"I'm in love with red. I think it's such a passionate color. Every flag of every country pretty much has red in it. It's power, there's no fence sitting with red. Either you love it or you don't. I think its blood and strength and life. I do love red. I love all colors. Great shades of blue, you find them in nature. They're all magic." -Bryan Batt
