Feelin’ Like a Fine Feline

Wednesday, November 21, 2018

There's just something about animal print that always gets me feeling like a fine feline.  Get it?  Despite the cheesiness of my opening line, it's true.  Maybe subconsciously I channel my inner diva whenever I slip on animal prints as bold as these.  For this outfit, I chose to pair leopard print on leopard print.  This look is definitely not for the faint of heart.

Styling animal prints can be a bit tricky, but I found that juxtaposing a smaller pattern with a larger print creates an interesting look that's not too overwhelming.  Personally, as a petite gal with a bit of curves, I find that this method works for me and my body type.  You can even use this tip when styling other prints and patterns, especially if you're just starting to dip your toes into mixing prints.  But hey, if you wanna pair two large prints together, you go, girl!  You do you!

To seamlessly meld the clashing prints together, I tucked the blouse into my skirt and cinched everything at the waist with a black belt.  Since both leopard prints contained black, I went ahead and chose that color to pull the whole ensemble together.

With that said, I went ahead and chose black knee-high boots, a metal ring purse, and cat-eye sunglasses to complete the outfit.  You may recognize this purse from my October Favorites post or from my recent Instagram post, but if you missed them, I'll let you in on the secret.  Are you ready?  Okay, this chic metal ring purse is from Target and it is only $22!  Swish!  That's another style steal in the basket, am I right?  For jewelry, I opted for subtle silver earrings and a rhinestone ring.  Occasionally, I will pair gold and silver together (because I don't believe in "fashion rules"), but for this particular look, I decided to stick to silver because of the cool tones in my top.

So, what do you think of this outfit?  Are you feline-in' it like I am?  That's the last pun, I swear.  Before I end this outfit post, I would like to thank Shein for gifting me with this fun top and for collaborating with me.  If you wanna try out the animal print trend or just want to channel your inner feline, be sure to click the link below to purchase your own leopard print top!  Well, until my next post, I am sending you lots of love from my heart to yours!

"Animals come from nature. They were not designed. All my inspiration comes from nature, whether it's an animal or the layout of bark or of a leaf. Sometimes my patterns are very bold, and you can barely see where they come from, but all the textures and all the prints come out of nature." -Diane von Furstenberg
