Measuring Beauty

While I was putting this outfit together, I felt as if this black dress needed an accessory to take it to the next level.  I thought, "Maybe a long necklace, a statement necklace? Hmm, maybe a belt?"  I walked in and out of my closet, trying to think about what to add to my ensemble, but I couldn't find that perfect piece.  Frustrated, I had the insane idea of using the measuring tape as a belt since it was displayed on my mannequin in front of me.  "Well, it's black and white, so it would definitely match my black and white platforms.  Let's just try it."  When I placed the measuring tape around my waist, it instantly took me back to a summer class in ninth grade when I did a documentary about beauty with two other girls.
The statement we were making in that short film was that everyone's body is beautiful.  Beauty cannot be measured with a measuring tape.  That is ridiculous!  Our bodies are not meant to look alike and I think everyone should learn to embrace our bodies, me included.  Yes, sometimes it's easy to compare our bodies to those of others, but at the end of the day our bodies are perfectly imperfect and that's beautiful.  Whether your curvy or skinny, show your body some love.  With that said, I'm sending you lots of love from my heart to yours!  You are more beautiful than you can even imagine!

"The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mode but the true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives the passion that she shows. The beauty of a woman grows with the passing years." -Audrey Hepburn
