October 2017 Favorites

In October, I emancipated my style and I let it run free.  I wore bold mixed prints, tried new silhouettes, and allowed myself to indulge in pieces that truly made me happy.  As a fashion blogger, I am constantly thinking about the next outfit post and what pieces I want to showcase.  And as a fashionista on a budget, I think about the cost, quality, and how often I will wear those pieces.  I admit- I've accumulated a ton of clothing and accessories over the years, so my closet is in dire need of a clear out.  (If you shop on Poshmark, keep an eye out for new listings!)  Sometimes I would purchase items just because it completed a look for an outfit post, but I would never wear it again.
During my two week trip to London and Paris, I gained a new respect for capsule collections.  I packed three dresses, three pairs of pants, two bodysuits, two tops, one pair of flats, and one pair of boots.  While packing I thought my style would feel a bit stifled because all of the pieces were black, white, or olive.  Surprisingly, at the end of the trip, I realized that I would be perfectly happy with just those pieces in my closet.  It was a bit of a revelation.  So, now when I go shopping, I ask myself, "Will I actually wear these items regularly?"  If the answer is no, I will then ask myself, "Do these items bring joy in my life?"  I know that question sounds cheesy, but it's true.  If an item doesn't bring me happiness, I don't purchase it.  Not only does it save me money, it makes me appreciate the pieces I have even more.  With that said, all of the items in my October favorites are pieces that truly bring me joy.  Let's check them out!

First up are these Puma x Fenty shoes!  Both are from the Fall/Winter 2016 collection, but I still think they're awesome in 2017.  I remember seeing these online last year, but they sold out before I could purchase them in my size.  Can you believe I found these shoes at Nordstrom Rack?  I'm not one to wear sneakers, but these sneaker-heel hybrids are so cool!  I remember Jeremy Scott designed a blue and white pointed sneaker heel for Moschino, much like this one, so I was stoked to pick this one up in black and white.  And the best part about them is that they're incredibly comfortable!

Now, these heels serve up a bit more glamour and a lot more sparkle!  While I was looking for a simple black heeled sandal, I ended up picking up these blinged-out studs!  They look amazing with a pair of jeans and a white tee, but they also look beautiful with a sparkly dress.  With Christmas and New Year celebrations right around the corner, these babies can bring you a lot of holiday cheer!

In my opinion, red is such a classic statement color to add to any monochrome outfit.  As soon as I walked into Forever 21, my eyes were drawn to this mini purse.  What caught my eye was its shape.  It has a vintage silhouette, but the silver rivets on the side give it a contemporary sleekness. This purse doesn't hold a lot, but it sure makes a statement!

Although I mostly listen to music on Pandora and purchase songs on iTunes, every time P!nk comes out with a new album, I have to purchase the album.  My dad introduced me to her music when I was a kid and I fell in love with the sound of her voice and how she infuses her music with passion and a whole lot of sass.  Since then, it's been a tradition to purchase the CD with my dad at Target and listen to it in the car on the way home.  Let me tell you, this album is so good!  I think it's her best one yet!

In October, I tried different mascaras and I found that I love the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara.  The formula is buildable and it doesn't leave my lashes feeling clumpy.  Although it adds drama and volume, my lashes still look very natural.  If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it!

My favorites would not be complete without these red Miu Miu sunnies!  The unique frame and bold color are what I love most about it. Between this pair and my other Miu Miu cat-eye sunglasses that I featured in my June Favorites, my outfits have been elevated to a whole other level because my eyes have been . . . accessorized!

Those are all the items I coveted in the month of October.  Let me know in the comments below what you loved last month!  Until my next post, I am sending you lots of love from my heart to yours!
