Fabulousness is a state of mind.  Sometimes the simple act of wearing a piece that sings to my soul can free me from a negative state of mind.  On days when I wake up feeling shitty or when I don't feel like myself, I'll throw on a sparkly pair of sunglasses and I'll instantly feel like I can take on whatever comes my way.  I know it sounds silly, but eventually, my forced happiness becomes genuine and throughout the day I'll forget all about my crappy morning or why I was anything less than blissful.  I know that not everyone resonates with this method, but you can't deny that clothing and accessories allow people to feel emotions, either good or bad.  Say, for example, you're having a horrible day at work and stumble upon my blog while surfing the web on your lunch break . . . and you see that I donned a Big Bird costume, a feather boa, fuschia platform heels, and a pair of over-sized costume glasses in my latest outfit post and called it, "Haute Couture."  You would laugh, wouldn't you?  I would!  I mean, no offense to Big Bird, but that would be hilarious and it would force you to crack a smile and wonder, "What in the world was she thinking?"  Either way, my outfit sparked up an emotion in you, and I think that's the power of styling.
With that said, I know that material items of any kind will never attract true happiness into your life, but sometimes they can be a vehicle that propels you to a pure happy place.  That's why I believe it is essential to take the time to dress and decorate your body with whatever makes you feel good about yourself.  I know your schedule can be hectic and crazy busy, so taking the time to style yourself to the nines every day is out of the question, but maybe taking one day a week or one day a month to doll yourself up is a healthy dose.  Like I mentioned before, sometimes just wearing one piece that you adore can turn your whole day around.  For me, that item is a fluffy jacket.  I always feel amazing in a faux fur, tassel, or fuzzy jacket.  They are welcome in my closet!
That's why I wanted to share with you this fun textured jacket from Tobi!  Every time I put it on, I feel as if I am in an old Hollywood movie.  Let me tell you, I had a blast styling the jacket for this photo shoot because it's so versatile and come on, the tassels are so fun!  In the end, I chose to pair it with a lace high-neck top and cropped jeans, but this jacket also looks amazing with just a white tank top and distressed jeans.  For accessories, I chose to carry a boxy vintage purse and a pair of nude platform sandals, and I added a touch of glamour with simple gold-tone jewelry pieces.
Let me know in the comments below if you have a go-to piece that you love to wear on days when you need an extra shot of fabulousness to put a smile on your face.  I would love to know!  Also, thank you so much, Tobi, for sending me this gorgeous jacket!  I know I'll be wearing it for years to come.  Until my next outfit post, I am sending you all lots of love from my heart to yours!

  1. I'm so about this look hon- very Parisian Chic. And the details like the bow, ruffles, transparency make your look unashamedly feminine.
And yes, clothes and accessories can be an instant mood lifter.
