Spring in My Step
Thursday, May 17, 2018Isabella Blow said that Alexander McQueen could "cut material like a god," and I say that Dries van Noten can mix prints like a magician. If you love fashion, you need to watch his documentary, Dries, on Netflix. Observing him play with different colors and textiles was like watching magic happen before your eyes. As I have mentioned before, there is an art or a science behind pairing clashing prints and colors. There are out-of-the-box combinations that are just brilliant and there are combos that fall short and end up looking like a hot mess.
Stripes and flowers don't always go together, but I think these two patterns play well together because the pink and white in my blouse peek through the emerald garden on my mini skirt, almost tricking the eye into thinking that they belong together. And what better way to pull an outfit together than with accessories and jewelry? To complete this outfit, I chose a light olive green crossbody purse and sunglasses to match that hue. For just a little sparkle, I popped in a pair of black and white statement earrings that are dusted with light pink rhinestones and slipped on a gold bangle.
Now, my heels were not the star of the show, but they sure do make a statement. I lusted over these Prada heels in the S/S Vogue Collections magazine back in 2016 and I never thought these beauties would end up in my shoe collection. By some miracle, my mom spotted one pair at Nordstrom Rack last year, in mint condition, in its original box, and in my size. What are the odds? Do you know how rare it is to find a designer runway item in my size in Hawai'i? It's like once-in-a-blue-moon kinda rare because lots of fashionistas in Hawai'i have small feet just like me. When I tried them on I was in complete shock that they fit perfectly. To say that it was a Cinderella moment is sort of a far-off metaphor, but it felt like a mini "happily ever after" moment . . . minus the prince, of course.
As the story goes, I purchased them in a heartbeat because they are drop dead gorgeous and they were about almost 90% off of the original price! Needless to say it was one of my favorite style steals of 2017. I had been saving it for the right outfit, and I think it looks just fabulous paired with this one. Every time I wear it, I find that I have a spring in my step! What do you say, yay or nay? Be sure to let me know in the comments below! As always, I am sending you lots of love from my heart to yours!
