When it comes to wearing jewelry and accessories, I think I am pretty fearless. The way I see it, the more fun and eccentric, the better. However, when it comes to printed bottoms, I am as timid as a mouse. Solid-colors are my comfort zone and textured-fabrics are okay by me, but printed bottoms are hella scary. I think they look amazing on other women, but on me? I’m not so sure. Sometimes printed skirts, shorts, and pants, make me look too bottom-heavy. Don’t get me wrong, I love my wide hips and the way they look in body-hugging dresses, but I find that prints exaggerate my curves to the point where it looks disproportional for my 4’ 10” frame.
With that said, I was surprisingly drawn to these artsy 'Matisse' printed shorts from Topshop. The colors screamed summer and I loved the abstract tropical print. I told myself, “Well, let’s just try it on. If you don't like it, you can always put it back on the rack.” So I did. I found my way to the dressing room and tried them on with this off-the-shoulder bodysuit, not thinking that I would feature them together on my blog. When I stepped up to the mirror and checked it out from all angles, I liked them! The combination was so bomb, I wanted to share it with you. As I was purchasing the duo, I thought to myself, “I already bought a pair of striped pants (which I featured in my earlier outfit post: Statement Stripes), I might as well be adventurous and purchase a printed bottom for summer. Why not tropical printed shorts?”
To pull the whole look together, I wore a pair of lace-up heels for a bit of height and carried my favorite mini backpack. For jewelry, I clipped on my newest black choker and slid on turquoise rings for extra color. Lastly, I popped on my go-to sunnies, my favorite Ray Bans, to sum up the outfit. I don’t know about you, but this might be my new favorite summer outfit. I’m not usually one to sport bright colors in one ensemble, but I really adore these shorts. Let me know in the comments below what colors you wear in the summer. I would love to know! Until the next post, I’m sending you lots of love from my heart to yours!
