It is a remarkable experience to see different looks through the lens of a camera. What I have learned from doing photo shoots is that there are certain outfits that look amazing in person, but awful in photographs and vice-versa. This look is one of those that look absolutely weird in person, but really chic and interesting on camera. I am wearing an extreme high-low open front top with tailored high-waisted pants. Being a petite woman, I was worried that the long top would drown me and make me look shorter than I am. However, I was really happy with the way the photos turned out. I felt a bit unsure about this ensemble in the beginning of the photo shoot, but I told myself to embrace the unusual outfit and own it. I strutted up and down the corridor, swaying my hips as this top fluttered side to side. By the end of the shutter show of photos, odd as it is, I felt as if I were Professor Snape walking down the hallways of Hogwarts. The top moved in the wind much like Snape’s black cape, which made me feel incredibly powerful and sleek, much like the Dark Arts professor.
To create this ensemble, I paired the striking top and olive pants with my platform mules for height, gold bangles and black/gold clutch for a touch of glamour, and a choker to pull the whole look together. For the choker, I’ll let you in on a little secret . . . are you ready? It’s actually a skinny black scarf (the one I featured in my May 2016 Favorites post) that I tied around my neck and pinned an olive green flower brooch to the front. Hope you enjoyed this outfit post! Let me know in the comments below what you think about this look- weird or chic? Sending you lots of love from my heart to yours!

Amazing outfit! I'm sure it looks great as this in person! ❤️😍
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Naigrie! I love your blog!
DeleteI'm also petite, so tops like that would normally be something I would stay well away from but I just love the way you styled it!! I think the tailored trousers contrast well with the 'flowyness' of the top and it is actually a very flattering look!!

Thank you so much, Maija! I agree, sometimes I will stay away from certain types of clothing because of my petite stature, but now I am starting to step "outside the box" with my style and try new things. I think you would look so amazing in this outfit! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog!
