Summer Blue Hues

Monday, July 02, 2018

Hey, fashionistas!  I hope the only summer blues in your life right now are the blue hues in your warm-weather wardrobe.  Although I don't believe in reserving certain colors for specific seasons, I find myself gravitating towards wearing lighter colors in the spring and summer.  Sapphire is a favorite jewel tone of mine, but sky blue and powder blue are the two hues that share the spotlight in this outfit post.

Denim shorts are kind of a must in the summer, but instead of opting for a white tee like I usually do, I chose to style it with a tunic and a white bralette.  I twist-tied the tunic in the front, looped it in a bow on the back, and rolled up the sleeves for an even more relaxed feel.

This high-low striped tunic may be the focal point of this look, but these gold jewelry pieces and the mother-of-pearl sunglasses steal the show.  After looking at the photo above, which jewelry pieces do you think are my new vintage finds?  If you guessed my earrings and my necklace, you're absolutely correct!  And . . . did you know that the star pendant is actually a vintage pin latched onto a vintage gold chain necklace?  Trust me, there are no limits when it comes to reinventing vintage pieces, and do you want to know what the best part is?  I paid $2 for the chain necklace and $3 for the star brooch, so this necklace only cost $5!

Of course, my outfit isn't complete without a purse and a pair of heels, but I'll get to the shoes later.  Let's talk about this purse first, shall we?  I featured this baby blue beauty in my April Favorites post, so be sure to check that post out if you would like to know where I purchased it and how much I paid for it.  Long story short, this is a Chloe look-a-like purse that is chic and budget-friendly.  There are a lot of mixed views and reactions when it comes to designer knock-off purses and accessories.  Personally, I purchase both authentic designer purses and look-a-like designer ones.  My style is all about mixing high and low-end pieces together to create awesome outfits, so I don't mind investing in certain expensive pieces and opting for a more reasonable version of other designer pieces.  Let me know in the comments below what your thoughts are on designer vs. knock-off purses.  Maybe I'll do a whole post on the topic?

Anyway, back to the summer blue hues!  Sometimes I just run away with my train of thought and forget to come back, but I could never forget to mention these gold Michael Kors wedges.  I laced them on because the braided natural fibers on the side add such a fun vacay vibe and these heels added about five inches to my height!

So, that about sums up this entire look!  As I mentioned above, I want to know your thoughts on not only this look but also on designer vs. designer dupes.  I'd really love to hear your views and opinions!  I hope you enjoyed this post and as always, I am sending you lots of love from my heart to yours!
