In my first post, I confessed that burgundy is one of my favorite colors, so I thought I would share with you one of my favorite burgundy pieces.  It is this gorgeous velvet dress by MINKPINK.  Whenever I wear velvet, I feel luxurious and elegant.  Maybe it’s the way the fabric just flows over my body or maybe it’s because I like the way it glows when the sunlight hits it.  For this look, I decided to pair this dress with a statement gold cross necklace from Topshop, a gold hand chain that I made myself, and simple stud earrings.

I know burgundy and jewel tones are supposed to be worn in the fall or winter and lighter colors worn in the spring and summer, but I don’t always follow the rules.  I wear burgundy all year round  because I think it looks good on my skin tone and I just love it!  To me, if you like a certain color, don’t be hesitant to wear it, even if it is not the “right season.”  If you want to wear bright canary and hot pink in the middle of winter, I say “Go for it!” If it makes you happy, wear it.  Remember, when you like what you wear, your soul will glow even brighter.  Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Love,
Kris

  1. I like the necklace. You wear it well for someone so tiny. Looks like something from the time of Queen Elizabeth.

  2. Wonderful & beautiful. I agree--I wear black, darker the better, year-round. If I can't wear black, I like rich brown tones.

    1. Me too! I love wearing black so much that half of the clothes in my closet are black.
