"Christmassy" All Year Round

Saturday, December 29, 2018

Christmas has now passed, but I'm still rocking red and green with this mixed print look.  Who says you can only wear red and green together during the holidays?  I'm all for breaking fashion rules, so today I will be sharing with you a few of my tips to sporting the Christmas color duo all year round.  Ladies and gents, let's begin!

The first fashion tip is to wear patterns that have other colors within them.  For example, although my button-down blouse is predominately green, there is orange weaved throughout the geometric pattern.  As for the hounstooth pants, they may look red and white from afar, but they are actually red, light pink, black, and a shade of golden canary.  I may be the only person in the world who thinks this mixed print combination works well together, but I stand by it 100%.

My second tip would be to incorporate similar shades of red and green into the ensemble to create a thought-through look.  For this particular outfit I chose to meld the patterns together with a wide burgundy waist belt.  Although burgundy is featured in neither the pant nor the top, the black and red colors that make up the patterned pants trick the eyes into thinking all the colors belong together.  It's almost like an optical illusion, right?

Continuing with the second fashion tip, I selected a handbag and velvet heels in varying shades of green- one lighter and one deeper.  I tried to create a monochromatic theme with the accessories just to disperse the emerald color evenly throughout the look.

Now, my third and final fashion tip for effortlessly rocking red and green after Christmas is to pull the whole look together with jewelry.  I know I say it in most of my posts, but it totally works!  Sometimes all an outfit needs is a little sparkle to add that polished touch, so I wore a handful of simple gold jewelry pieces and popped on a pair of gold-rimmed aviatiors.  And voila, those are my three fashion tips!  Now you can wear red and green together all year with confidence!  Let me know in the comments below what you think about rocking holiday colors long after Christmas.  I'd love to know!  As always, I am sending you lots of love from my heart to yours!

  1. I think this outfit is styled well with the shirt, the split-leg pants, and the pumps. Surely having split-leg pants allows you to showcase a wild pair of shoes, if you went with some wild ones. Fine looks here nonetheless. So you get my respect for this one!

    1. Thank you so much, John! If I ever find a wild pair of heels, I will definitely showcase them with split-leg pants! Happy New Year!
