Making a Statement in Snakeskin
Monday, December 03, 2018
Snakeskin is a print that you either love or hate. I used to be one of those who hated it. Yes, it's true, and here I am wearing it loud and proud here on Elizabeth, Marie, and Me. Like tastebuds, I guess my taste in clothing and accessories have evolved over time. Like my last outfit post, I styled this one with a bit of vintage.
For this look, I went for a bit of the 70s vibes. I know, I know, enough of the bell bottoms already, but I just love this studded pair from Rachel Roy. And for the top, I selected a vintage silk brown button-down blouse. They say pairing brown and black is a fashion no-no, but what can I say, I'm a rule breaker. Okay, getting back to the star of the show: this snakeskin jacket. Besides the print, the yellow hues are stand-out amazing, right? This is not usually a print I gravitate towards, but I knew it was special the moment I saw it. This jacket is not one that I will wear every day, but I can see myself wearing it for years to come.
To doll up this look, I chose the gold "LOVE" and "DREAM" earrings that I styled in my outfit post, Stopping to Smell the Flowers. Since a matching bracelet was necessary to complete the look, I chose a gold link bracelet to play along with the other sparkly accessories. Lastly, I popped on my petite brown purse and slid on my favorite aviator sunglasses.

To those who say "enough with the bell bottoms/flares," I say- at least these are different and more refreshing from skinny jeans/pants. I surely love flares and wide legs, so bring 'em on! This jacket is great! I also like the blouse, jeans, and peep-toe platforms here. The earrings are a bit too much for me, but I do love the outfit as a whole. So well styled on this one, Kristen!
