4 Year Blogiversary

Tuesday, April 03, 2018

Exactly four years ago on April 3, 2014, I launched Elizabeth, Marie, & Me and hit "Publish" on my first outfit post.  Can you believe that it's been four years?  I remember being incredibly nervous about putting myself out there on the internet for everyone to see because I'm actually a very private person.  I had a Facebook profile in high school, but I never shared any photos or videos, so using Blogger and using social media were definitely uncharted territories for me.
When I started Elizabeth, Marie, and Me, I knew I wanted to share my outfits with others who were equally as passionate about fashion as I was, and share my styling tips with those who were looking for inspiration.  More importantly, I wanted to spread a little light and positivity in the world.  Fashion blogging has allowed me to be a part of such a supportive community of inspirational people who genuinely enjoy creating content and sharing their stories.  I truly feel incredibly blessed to have connected with brands, other bloggers who share the same passion as I do, and, of course, I am grateful for all of you who take the time to read my blog.  Elizabeth, Marie, and Me is my little place on the internet where I call home.  This is where I've documented all of my styling "masterpieces," discovered some of my "signature pieces" that I'll wear for years to come, tried trends, experimented with different fabrics, textures, silhouettes, and donned an array of accessories.  After four years, I can honestly say that I've finally found my style.
In honor of this four-year blogiversary, I wanted to share with you how I styled this outfit, my top four favorite outfit posts thus far, and above everything, I wanted to express my gratitude.  Let's start, shall we?

Before I start typing on and on about what I'm wearing, I wanted to send a huge thank you to oNecklace for this thoughtful anniversary gift.  This personalized necklace of my blog's logo is such a beautiful piece of art and I've been wearing it almost every day since I received it in the mail.  Thank you so much for making my four-year blogiversary extra special!

Now, on to how I styled my outfit.  If you know me, I can be a bit over-the-top sometimes when it comes to fashion, but I thought wearing a voluminous bright tulle skirt for this special occasion was perfectly fitting, right? I purchased this gorgeous Molly Goddard piece at the end of last year and I tucked it away in my closet, waiting for that Carrie Bradshaw moment.  I tried it on a few times and twirled around a bit, but I haven't worn it out until now.  I guess subconsciously I knew it was meant to shine in this blog post of mine.  In person, it's actually a shocking neon reddish-orange color, but in the photos, it looks almost like a sunny salmon hue.  Regardless of the color, it's AMAZING!  If I could wear this skirt every day, I totally would.  I casualized this outfit by layering a denim dress underneath and cinched everything together at the waist with a burgundy belt.  Wait.  Is "casualized" even a word?  Well, it is in my fashion dictionary.  For heels, I chose a pair of red pumps to harmonize with my thick waist belt.  As for jewelry, I opted for a pair of statement vintage Escada heart earrings and a gold bangle from the Grinnell Designs showroom to go with the oNecklace logo necklace.  Nothing like adding a bit of sparkle and shine to an outfit!

Now, since it's my four-year blogiversary, I put together a list of my four favorite outfit posts thus far.  It was nostalgic to browse through my collection of blog posts.  To many, I look the same in 2014 as I do now, but in my eyes, I look so different.  And so does my style!  Talk about a style evolution!  Anyway, here are my favorites listed in no particular order:

1.) The Story Laced Within- This was the first outfit that I realized that I could style an outfit that had depth and use clothing to tell a story while still staying in budget.  This forever will be one of my favorites, especially because of the Victorian vibe.

2.) Woman Warrior- For this look, I tried channeling Joan of Arc's powerful female energy, so it's packed with strength, courage, and embellished with a bit of tulle.

3.) Tulle Flares- I can't officially say that I started the tulle flare pant trend, but I sewed gathered tulle onto a pair of vinyl pants for a dramatic rocker-chic feel.  Topshop later came out with a pair of jeans with lavender tulle bottoms, so I guess you could say that I foresaw that trend.

4.) Mix, Don't Match- My fourth favorite blog post marks the first time I ever fell in love with mixing prints.  Who knew floral and stripes would tango so well together?  I guess you could say that it's been an obsession of mine ever since.

Whether you have been following me from the beginning, or if this is your first time stopping by my blog, thank you.  There are so many other fashion blogs and an endless amount of creative content out in the world, so I am beyond honored that you decided to invest your time in reading my posts and scrolling through my photos.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart!  Last, but certainly not least, I wanted to thank two people who are always behind the scenes.  Thank you to my mother for being my amazing photographer and my Aunty Laverne for being the best photographer's assistant there ever was.  Without your love and support, Elizabeth, Marie, and Me wouldn't be what it is today.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!  As always, I am sending you all lots of love from my heart to yours!
